Introduction
Guided tour of Fulham Palace, Bishops Avenue, SW6 6EA, home of the Bishops of London for a thousand years. The tour will be followed by a self-selected lunch in the palace cafe and an opportunity to view the extensive palace gardens. Afterwards, there will be an option to have tea
in the cafe and/or take a walk beside the Thames.

Fulham Palace is a well-kept secret, an unexpected tree-enclosed haven in West London with lovely gardens in a tranquil Thames side setting. It is one of London`s oldest and most historically significant buildings. The land is recorded as belonging to the Bishops of London in 700AD and the Palace was their country residence from at least the 11th century and their main residence from the 18th century until 1975.

Most of the Palace building dates from 1495 and is grade 1 listed. The gardens, which extend to 12 acres, are home to a range of international plant and tree species and were famous for containing a number of the country`s botanical firsts. There is a small museum; also displays of sculpture, artworks and other items of interest in the gardens.

The Palace, situated behind All Saints Church Fulham, is best accessed via Putney Bridge Underground Station or Putney Overground Station.

Cost £15 per head, excluding lunch, this includes the cost of the tour guide and a small contribution to the upkeep of the Palace. There is no charge for entry to the Palace. If the guided tour cannot be arranged, your cheques will be returned uncashed on the day. There will then be no charge for the visit.
