Hem and Veil

Jackie was amazing! Do not hesitate to bring your dress to Hem and Veil. She was so knowledgeable about exactly what alterations needed to be done and was very reasonably priced. Jackie was also so welcoming and fun to be around.

Jacquelyn is an outstanding seamstress who completely enjoys her craft and is top notch! She greets you with a warm smile and reminds you her goal is that you leave with the dress of your dreams! We headed to Jacquelyn four short days before the wedding with an uneasy bride; the dress was a little too large everywhere. Jacquelyn assured us she could easily alter it in time for the wedding. The bride “popped” on the dress and J started pinning. We arrived the next day and the dress was beautiful and fit very nicely. The next day, the dress felt a little too tight. We called J and she said come on in! We scooted right over, she pinned a few more areas, made the alterations while we waited and voila; the wedding dress of her dreams fit perfectly. She is a master of her trade with the biggest heart! This is the ONLY place to have your bridal gown altered! Run, do not walk to see her; she’s the best!!

Jacquelyn did a wonderful job altering my wedding dress! It was a dress from another consignment bridal shop and while most of it fit ok, the bodice was terrible. It had these enormous pointy boobs kind of like Madonna's bra. She somehow fixed it and it looked amazing. The dress fit like a glove and was very comfortable when she was done. She also is very personable and her shop is super cute.

Jackie is the best! That's all you need to know! Go to this lady and she will do whatever you need and the results are flawless. She even has some dresses you can buy at her shop! All the way from nice vintage dresses to the most modern to little pullovers you can buy last minute. I recommend Jackie to all brides in the greater Portland area. She's fun to work with and you'll have a blast the whole time you're with her!

I can't say enough nice things about Jacquelyn. I was in a tough spot because my dress needed an adjustment that I discovered the week of my wedding without time to take it to my seamstress in Virginia, but I wasn't getting to Portland until the Thursday of Labor Day weekend. She was squeezed me in to take a look, fixed my dress, and all was well on my wedding day. I don't know what I would have done without her. And even in that situation, she was perfectly reasonable and only charged me a small amount of money for the minor-ish alteration. I'm so grateful!

Jacquelyn & her wedding dress alteration skills are amazing! She was always very accommodating when scheduling my dress fittings (even coming in on a Sunday!). When my maid of honor & mother needed their dresses altered, she would tell me to bring them in, too. I was so happy with the way my dress came out. It fit perfectly!

I went to Hem & Veil for my alterations, Jacquelyn is awesome! I would highly recommend! She is friendly, her new shop is super cute, and her prices are outstanding. She squeezed me in for last min alterations after my initial work even though she was very busy. If you are looking for alterations I cannot give her a more glowing review!

I absolutely loved working with Jacqueline, from start to finish! She understood my vision and made several small but subtle alterations that made all the difference! She was able to accommodate my busy work schedule and living in a different state. Would recommend her dresses and services to everyone!!

I went in to try on some different dresses and Jacqueline was awesome. It's a super tiny space but she did have a couple dresses that I really liked but would change things about and she gave me a lot of sizing and alterations advice when shopping around. I would definitely go back.

I got a dress off the rack from Vows and needed some minor alterations. I happened to walk by Hem and Veil on my way to Silly's, and I am so glad I did. Jacqueline was so amazing. I am not a huge wedding person, and I don't know the difference between bustle styles and did not know what I even needed to get done (in hindsight). However, Jacqueline took the time to not only give me some killer alterations, but also made sure I understood why she was putting pins here and there. She also added removable cold shoulder sleeves to my dress so I could have dreamy pictures, and then go off and dance the night away. Also, her shop is adorable. It is situated right behind Fiore (where we ended up getting groomsmen gifts and my bridal jewelry). The walls of the shop are covered in beautiful, affordable vintage dresses, and some dressed that Jacqueline put her own spin on. It was so cozy and intimate, offering the perfect bridal experience. Absolutely perfect.

Beautiful work! I was low on time and money to get my dress altered and not only were the alterations perfect and done quickly, but extremely affordable. Couldn't be happier!
