Traffic non-exhaust substances: impact on air quality, health and possible remediation
Submissions open:
Now open for submission
Deadline:
31 March 2024
Guest Editor(s):
Fulvio Amato (CSIC, Barcelona), Ye Liu (University of Leeds)
In this gold open-access themed collection, we focus on non-exhaust emissions from road traffic arising from the wear of vehicle parts (such as from the brakes, tyres and clutch), road wear and road dust resuspension.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Innovative methods for measuring non-exhaust substances and total PM in ambient air
- Laboratory measurements that can contribute to emission standardizations
- Toxicological and epidemiological studies
- Laboratory and real-world tests of remediation measures
- Physico-chemical properties of non-exhaust emissions
- Mathematical models of non-exhaust emissions

Guest Editor(s):
Christopher Gordon (University of Ghana), James Doss-Gollin (Rice University), and Lu Liu (Iowa State University)
Key topics within the scope of this themed collection include, but are not limited to:
- Methods for downscaling global and regional climate to decision-relevant scales, including validation and critique.
- Multiscale modeling approaches to characterize the effect of climate on urban water infrastructure systems.
- Impacts of climate change on source water quality through methods, indicators, and modeling approaches.
- Hydroclimate risk assessment and management in data-scarce regions.
- Adaptation strategies for urban water resources considering uncertainties in future climate, urbanization, technology, and other factors.
