Create a lasting legacy, and a brighter future for science

How to include the Royal Society of Chemistry in your Will
Whether you have a Will already, or you are planning to write your first Will, it is advisable to visit your legal advisor, to make sure your wishes for your family and any charities can’t be misunderstood later on.
To make a gift in your Will, you may need either to create a new Will, or add a Codicil to your present Will. A Codicil is a legal document that adds to or changes an existing Will.
If you reside outside of the United Kingdom (UK), it may still be possible for you to include the Royal Society of Chemistry in your Will, however, we strongly recommend that you seek legal and financial advice in this regard.
If you have any specific requests, we encourage you to get in touch with us prior to making your Will so we can work with you to maximise the impact of your gift.
Types of legacy
There are two different types of gifts you can leave in your will to support the work of the Royal Society of Chemistry. We recommend taking legal advice to help you decide which option works best for you.
A percentage of your estate
This is called a residual gift and is typically a portion of what is left after other legacies and expenses have been paid.
A sum of money
This is called a pecuniary gift, a specific sum of money that can be index-linked to safeguard its future value.
